{"id":222,"date":"2015-07-30T18:19:50","date_gmt":"2015-07-30T22:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/x-files.rainknight.net\/?p=222"},"modified":"2015-09-13T18:12:57","modified_gmt":"2015-09-13T22:12:57","slug":"02x03-blood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/x-files.rainknight.net\/?p=222","title":{"rendered":"[Episodes] 02\u00d703 \u2013 Blood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Notable for being Darin Morgan&#8217;s first story credit before he officially started writing for the show.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">The Case<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The case, according to the FBI: \u00a0<\/strong>A series of seemingly random killing sprees occur in a small town.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mulder&#8217;s Theory:<\/strong>\u00a0 Smashed electronics are found at the scene of each murder, leading Mulder to believe that the machines may somehow be influencing the killers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scully&#8217;s Theory:<\/strong>\u00a0 After finding traces of it in the body of one of the killers during an autopsy, Scully\u00a0thinks\u00a0that LSDM from a pesticide may have something to do with it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s actually going on:<\/strong>\u00a0 The LSDM seemed to be affecting individuals triggered by\u00a0certain phobias, possibly allowing them to be affected by subliminal messages broadcast on electronic devices that may or may not have been related to controlled experiments by the government.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did Mulder and Scully solve the case?<\/strong>\u00a0 As far as the FBI is concerned, most likely (though this case wouldn&#8217;t have been classified as an X-File, since the X-Files unit was closed during this episode). \u00a0Objectively, one killer was located. \u00a0A potential killer was stopped and brought in. \u00a0The agency using the pesticide agreed to research the affect it may have on the population, though only if they could do it without drawing attention to themselves.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">Interpersonal Relationships<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Mulder and Scully:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0Even though they&#8217;re no longer formally working together, Mulder apparently still sends long-ass emails to Scully for her input on his cases, and she just waits for him to get to the weird shit. \u00a0She also performed the autopsy for his case and flew out a few hundred miles to join him when he needed her help. \u00a0You know, like any work acquaintance might do.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frohike and Mulder:<\/strong> \u00a0Frohike is a creeper, and it&#8217;s implied that Mulder probably gave him Scully&#8217;s phone number in exchange for a letting him borrow his night vision goggles. \u00a0We also get this exchange between Frohike and Mulder:<\/p>\n<p>Frohike: \u00a0&#8220;So, Mulder, where&#8217;s your little partner?<br \/>\nMulder: \u00a0&#8220;She wouldn&#8217;t come. She&#8217;s afraid of her love for you.&#8221;<br \/>\nFrohike: \u00a0&#8220;She&#8217;s tasty.&#8221;<br \/>\nMulder: \u00a0&#8220;You know, Frohike, it&#8217;s men like you who give perversion a bad name.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">Agents in Peril<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Fox Mulder:<\/strong> \u00a0Pretty much all Mulder in this one. \u00a0First he was slashed in the arm by a knife-wielding woman whose microwave told her to kill him, then he was sprayed down with some potentially psychotic pesticide, and finally, he went head-to-head with a man with a shotgun who was already in the process of shooting up the place. \u00a0Also, he tripped while running up stairs and re-opened his knife wound. \u00a0Ouch.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000000;\">Recurring Elements<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Glasses:<\/strong> \u00a0Two different scenes where Scully&#8217;s wearing glasses. \u00a0Woo!\u00a0 [<a title=\"The Glasses Master Post\" href=\"http:\/\/x-files.rainknight.net\/?p=110%20\">The Glasses Master Post<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical Fitness:<\/strong> \u00a0We see Mulder going for a jog while working on the case.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Porn:<\/strong> \u00a0Mulder&#8217;s excuse for not reading the August edition of &#8220;The Lone Gunman&#8221; was that it arrived the same day as his issue of Celebrity Skin. \u00a0(Frohike also has a number of pin-ups in his work area.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not Officially an X-File:<\/strong> \u00a0This episode takes place after the X-Files unit had been shut down the first time. \u00a0Mulder is back to investigating violent crimes, and Scully is teaching and doing autopsies at Quantico, but they still manage to get together to figure this one out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Notable for being Darin Morgan&#8217;s first story credit before he officially started writing for the show.
